Petty s Island

While this is pretty endangered from Pennsauken Township and Camden County eminent domain actions, at present, it is one of the nicest spots on the Delaware River for an anchorage. The bridge in the picture is private and gives a low water clearance of about 10 feet, and the water depth is about 10 feet behind the island. However, if you anchor in decent water (remember there is a 6 foot tide), the area behind this island is a nice place to stay for an afternoon or overnight. I have also seen boats anchored out if the channel on the south end of Petty's island. There is an active Eagle's nest in the area and lots of ywllow and black crowned night herons. Deer and fox have been seen on the island. There is a barge operation that is semi-active, but anchoring out of the channel and especially north of them towards the bridge should be very quiet. In the upper left of the picture is Farragut Sportsmen's Association (a member of DRYL) with their long dock for members. They will often allow transients to stay at their facilities for a nominal fee (depending on space available), and they have gas and pump out facilities available. The dock has water and electricity, but it is pretty full
